Italian Banca Popolare di Vicenza Selects Blue Coat for WAN Optimization and Video Delivery

Blue Coat Systems , the leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that Banca Popolare di Vicenza, the Italian flagship bank of the banking group Bancario Banca Popolare di Vicenza, has selected Blue Coat® ProxySG® appliances for a combination of WAN optimization, to accelerate applications and file access to branch offices, and integrated Web security and policy control. The appliances will also manage and distribute corporate video to employees in branch offices.

Banca Popolare di Vicenza has 630 branches throughout Italy with approximately 5,500 employees. The initial deployments will be made in branch offices from recent acquisitions or newly established by the corporation. One requirement for the WAN optimization infrastructure was the ability to be set up in new branches in a short time and to scale for deployment in large numbers of sites.

Deploying Blue Coat ProxySG appliances in branch offices enables the bank's primary customer application, called Secnew, to operate correctly and responsively for its tellers. The appliances also deliver programming from the bank's corporate television channel, the BPViChannel, to branch office employees.
