New Infoblox Course Portfolio
Transition to NIOS V7.x on Infoblox devices was a trigger to renew the entire courseware portfolio of Infoblox. Sometimes changes look like cosmetically ones, but they grip really deeply inside courseware. Some changes are substantial. Unlike expected/unexpected there is much more IPv6 contents. For Europe IPv6 is still “unwanted child” but generally we should get at least mentally acquainted with it. Exam and labs will rely on your prior IPv6 knowledge. Up to now we have been offering mostly DDI courses, but this should now change.
New Infoblox portfolio splits now in three but in future four basic stems:
- Classical DDI courses (DNS, DHCP, IPAM)
- Network Automation Courses based on NetMRI product
- Security Course – specially devoted to DNS service protection
- Cloud services classes should emerge soon – e-learning module is available
There were quite a lot of problems with certification/course names in the past. Just now it is simple – the name of the class corresponds one-to-one to the name of certification. Unpleasant thing is however that the number of questions have increased and the course material itself is not sufficient to pass the exam. This increase is substantial like stepping from 50 to 70 questions in CDAT exam while keeping passing score at 80%. Some of the sections have been shifted to other courses/e-learning resources, while some are lost like file distribution inside the grid.
The labs are completely redesigned to encapsulate each user. This gives you as a student much more freedom to use the course optimally while working on the labs at your own speed, “deep diving” in some labs and skipping some of them (not recommended).
The changes have been introduced effectively as of May 23-rd. All new courses, labs and exams will obey a new naming path. The naming of the old/new courses is presented in below table:
Apart from instructor led courses there are some e-learning modules available for Infoblox course students like for example recent courses on reporting member and Infoblox Cloud Services.
Certification requires that you follow the whole path. Taking CDAT certification assumes that you have already passed CDBC and CDIC. It is also impossible to pass exams not taking part in the training. Course material itself follows the same rules – CDAT assumes that you are able to build and configure grid with HA member pair by your own.
