Training goals
This three-day course is designed to provide fundamental skills needed to analyze the internal and external security threats against a network, and to develop security systems like firewalls, IDS systems, Honypots, central log servers that will protect an organization's information. The emphasis of the course is on the underlying principles and techniques of network security with examples of how they are applied in practice. At the end of the course, a student will have an understanding of: the themes and challenges of network security, the role of cryptography, the techniques for access control and intrusion detection. The student will have developed a critical approach to the analysis of network security, and will be able to bring this approach to bear on future decisions regarding network security.
