NSA: Foundation

Training goals
NSA: Foundation is a two-day instructor-led course, which introduces security administrators to Nokia IP Security Platforms. The course provides the necessary information and hands-on experience to deploy, manage and maintain the Nokia family of IP security products. Lab exercises enable students to learn operational skills needed to effectively manage Nokia IP Security Platforms.

NSA: Foundation replaces "NSA I"

Who should attend Technical persons tasked with the support, installation, deployment or administration of Nokia security products should attend this course. This could include the following:

  • Installation consultants

  1. Security terminology and Nokia IP Security Platforms overview
  2. Architecture and design of IPSO on diskbased and diskless platforms
  3. Platform configuration using Nokia Network Voyager
  4. Installation and basic configuration of Firewall-1 (or VPN-1) NGX
  5. Authentication – local and remote with RADIUS/TACACS, and role configuration
  6. Simple diagnostics
  7. Configuration: backup and restore
  8. System administration
  9. DHCP and PPPoE for small scale installations
  10. Nokia IP Series monitoring and maintenance
  11. Overview of Nokia Technical Support

Course Objectives


Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:
  1. Understand Nokia IP Security Platform product and positioning
  2. Understand Nokia IP Series hardware and software architecture
  3. Exhibit competency installing and configuring the Nokia IP Series in a network environment
  4. Understand auditing, logging and authentication systems
  5. Manage the Nokia IP Series in a secure network environment
  6. Manage third party software installation, upgrades, and removals such as Check Point FW-1 NGX
  7. Exhibit competency using Device management and File Sync
  8. Maintain software and files on numerous devices
  9. Troubleshoot Device Management and File Sync problems

Requirements
Persons attending this course must have a working knowledge of internetworking concepts and an understanding of TCP/IP, network addressing, and subnet masks. They should have knowledge of basic router concepts, static routes, and OSI layering. Check Point's Security Administrator course is recommended as a companion course to NSA: Foundation.
Certificates
The participants will obtain certificates signed by Nokia Enterprise Solutions.
