Extreme Multicast Routing Rev 3.0

Training goals
The Extreme Multicast Routing course presents the concepts and techniques used with IP multicasting in a switched Ethernet and routed IP environment. Implementation and configuration of the Internet Group Management Protocol, Protocol Independent Multicast-Sparse Mode, Protocol Independent Multicast-Dense Mode, and additional multicast related protocols are discussed.

This course is designed for individuals who are responsible for the design, configuration and troubleshooting of IP Multicast networks that incorporate Extreme Networks products. This course is designed as an instructor-led lecture with extensive laboratory exercises and is based on ExtremeWare® XOS™ 11.3.

  8. Definition of Protocol Independent Multicast Dense and Sparse modes
  9. Configuring Protocol Independent Multicast Dense and Sparse mode trees
  10. Protocols used to meet the challenges of deploying multicasting over the Internet
  11. Description of Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol

Requirements
A working familiarity with LAN concepts, including basic Ethernet and TCP/IP is required. Also a basic knowledge of ExtremeWare XOS configuration and troubleshooting techniques is needed - these prerequisites can be met by attending the Extreme Configuration Fundamentals (ECF-200/5) classes.

The participants will obtain certificates signed by Compendium - Education Center. This course is also a prerequisite for Extreme Network Specialist (ENS) certification.
