Incident within IT environment, digital evidence

The course presents the basic knowledge about tools and techniques one can use during the computer crime investigation and computer forensics activities. The training provides students with the  following skills:  conducting computer investigation, preserving digital evidences and maintaining “Chain of custody”. A lot of effort is put into understanding principals of the proper documentation process.

During workshops students will have the opportunity to prepare a computer crime scene documentation, copy and secure  volatile data, and duplicate digital evidences for the next stage of the investigation.

1. Computer investigation, computer forensics, incident within IT environment – definitions and explanations.
2. Computer investigation and computer forensics rules. Digital evidence acquisition and preservation.
3. Preservation of digital evidences within on-line and off-line IT system.
4. Documentation and protection of the evidences for the Court.
5. Rules and principals of Wi-Fi  forensics.
6. Procedures and principles of PDA forensics.
   

Workshop

• Documentation of the computer crime scene.
• Acquisition of volatile data from a compromised machine.
• Duplication of the digital evidences for the examination process.

Knowledge from the course – incident within IT environment,  computer crime law and regulation.

Good knowledge of the OS Windows and Linux/Unix.

Basic understanding TCP/IP protocol, network  appliances, Internet, e-mail experience.
