This course covers the fundamentals of the powerful and versatile SDM platform. You will learn how to install, configure and support SDM environment. SDM allows you to easily copy / move inactive data out of your production databases and into less expensive storage. You will learn access methods that enable you to query data, preserve DB data for purposes of corporate governance and e-discovery, and improve performance by removing older, inactive data from your production database. The course is composed of walk-through demonstrations followed by hands-on practical exercises with each student having access to their own Virtual Machine (VM).

Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Discuss the purpose and benefits of the Structured Data Manager (SDM) technology
  • Learn how to use the SDM Web Console and Designer interfaces
  • Install SDM in an MSSQL environment
  • Configure Database Modeling using Designer
  • Configure Business Flow Management using Web Console
  • Describe how SDM integrates with IDOL
  • Configure SDM Cartridges, Schema Archives, Database to File Archives, Database to Database Archives, and 3 Tier Archives (Database to Database to File)
  • Configure and use the Archive Query Server
  • Understand archive access and transparency
  • Perform basic SDM administration and troubleshooting
