Proxim Wireless WiMAX System Supports the World's Most Remote Digital City

Proxim Wireless Corporation, a global pioneer of end-to-end solutions in Wifi Mesh, WiMAX, WLAN, and Wireless backhaul and wholly owned subsidiary of Terabeam, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRBM), today announced that its WiMAX Forum Certified™ Tsunami MP.16 base stations and subscriber units were chosen to support a special WiMAX deployment in Parintins, Brazil, as part of the Intel World Ahead Program, an initiative in which Intel plans to invest more than US $1 billion globally over the next five years to bring wireless voice and data to residents of developing nations. WiMAX is a standards-based technology that enables the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL.

Parintins, a town on an island in the Amazon River reachable only by boat or plane, is home to 114,000 residents. In partnership with Intel, Proxim Wireless and other collaborators installed a state-of-the-art WiMAX network connecting a primary healthcare center, two public schools, a community center, and Amazon University. At the core of the installation is Proxim\'s award-winning Tsunami MP.16, the only WiMAX system to utilize chipsets from Intel for both base station and subscriber units, enabling optimal data rate connectivity and interoperability with Intel-based subscriber units.

"We are pleased and honored to be a partner with Intel in the Parintins Digital City Project to bring high speed wireless connectivity to such a remote area of the world. The project has brought together organizations from throughout Brazil - enterprise, government, education - all of whom can see first-hand the capabilities our robust, reliable, and rugged WiMAX product line deployed in a truly challenging environment," said Robert Fitzgerald, Chief Executive Officer of Proxim Wireless, at the dedication ceremony which took place earlier this week in the Amazon rain forest.

About the Proxim Wireless WiMAX Product Family
The Proxim Tsunami MP.16 3500 product line is compliant with the 802.16d-2004 WiMAX standard. It operates within the 3.4-3.6 GHz frequency band and offers time-division duplex (TDD), which is optimal for asynchronous traffic patterns as typically experienced by service providers. The system is comprised of base stations and subscriber units in integrated, outdoor form factors for easy installation. With its pico-cell architecture, the system is ideal for residential last mile access. The Tsunami MP.16 was awarded a 2006 Product Innovation Award by Frost & Sullivan for "truly innovative WiMAX solutions."

Proxim Wireless is the only vendor in the industry to develop both a TDD base station and a subscriber unit based on the Intel® PRO/Wireless 5116 Broadband Interface, assuring its customers the maximum possible system compatibility and interoperability.

Proxim Tsunami MP.16 3500 also offers a scalable approach to system deployment, beginning with entry-level, single-sector base stations and growing into six-sector macro base stations with GPS synchronization. This, coupled with the availability of other technologies from within Proxim\'s industry-leading product portfolio, not only lowers the barrier to deploy WiMAX systems for service providers, but also positions Proxim to enable truly scalable broadband wireless networks.
