Extreme Networks Tames Chaos at the Edge with IP Handset Provisioning Module Automating Convergence Deployment
"Extreme Networks is delivering a powerful combination of edge integrity and operational versatility for IT managers who face large-scale IP telephony rollouts and difficult staffing environments," said Scott Lucas, senior director of solutions marketing for Extreme Networks. "With our first-of-its-kind Universal Port framework, we offer an intelligent, automated solution to this critical issue."
As part of its commitment to open development, Extreme Networks will be releasing its Handset Provisioning Module software source code to the public domain. Users will be encouraged to further enhance the module to add support for new phone brands, networked devices, and other relevant capabilities. Extreme Networks will also support developers with a program to test and release user-developed enhancements made to the provisioning module.
Extreme Networks Universal Port is a powerful, contextual connection management framework that leverages an open architecture to perform dynamic, event-driven switch configuration. With Universal Port, the network can reconfigure itself in response to a variety of situations. Universal Port can support everything from simple devices to highly sophisticated devices that support the latest discovery and authentication protocols. As a result, the network edge and the devices themselves can be dynamically tailored to provide the precise network and device policies needed to support the context of each individual connection.
