During this lab-intensive two-day class, students learn and apply the skills to deploy VMware® on HPE Synergy using HPE OneView for VMware vCenter Server®. During handson exercises students configure 2-node vSAN clusters with witness node and implement VMware clustering and replication. Students also use the storage integration plugin to configure vVols on HPE Primera, and to configure and test HPE Peer Persistence.

By the end of this lab intensive course, you should be able to:

  • Describe HPE technologies and software components including
    • HPE Synergy
    • HPE Primera
    • HPE OneView for VMware vCenter Server
  • Discuss advanced VMware and HPE technologies leveraging HPE Synergy and HPE Primera
    • VMware DRS, HA and vSAN clustering
    • vSphere replication and Site Recovery Manager
    • HPE Peer Persistence
    • vVols with HPE Primera

The audience for this course is technical personnel responsible for:

  • VMware deployment on HPE Synergy platform with HPE Primera as the main storage
  • HPE Synergy configuration as a part of preparation for VMware deployment
  • Integration of VMware with HPE plug-ins

    1. Deploying ESXi Infrastructure Using HPE OneView for VMware vCenter Server
      • Explore an existing HPE Synergy and Primera setup
      • Review HPE OneView for VMware vCenter Server components integration with vCenter Server
      • Prepare a server profile template for VMware ESXi deployment using HPE OneView
      • Deploy two ESXi systems, using HPE OneView for vCenter Server and set static IP addresses
    2. Implementing VMware Clustering on HPE Synergy
      • Prepare a cluster for high availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) and vSAN functionalities
      • Work with VMware vSAN
      • Work with HA cluster and Fault Tolerance
      • Work with DRS functionality
    3. Managing VMware Cluster Using HPE OneView Components
      • Review vCenter Server with HPE OneView integration
      • Manage VMware Cluster using HPE OneView for VMware vCenter Server
    4. Configuring vSphere Replication
      • Prepare the environment for vSphere Replication
      • Deploy, configure and test vSphere Replication
    5. Configuring VMware Storage with HPE Primera
      • Configure HPE Storage Integration Pack for VMware vCenter and use it to create vVol datastore
      • Work with vVol datastore
      • Create VMFS datastore using HPE Storage Integration Pack for VMware vCenter
    6. Configuring HPE Peer Persistence
      • Use configured HPE Remote Copy
      • Configure HPE Peer Persistence
      • Test HPE Peer Persistence

Wymagania wstępne

Students are expected to have working knowledge related to the following technologies:

  • H0LN3S HPE Synergy Administration training or similar experience of Synergy management using HPE OneView
  • HM9P6S VMware vSphere - Install, Configure, Manage [V7] or similar experience in VMware foundation technologies
  • HM9Q5S HPE Primera I: Management and Connectivity or similar experience in HPE Primera management using SSMC and HPE OneView
